2008年10月 Worship CD Banquet2008年10月 Listen to Samples from the New CDJust click the link below. http://sternbodia.multiply.com/music Keep in mind that these are NOT full-length songs, but long samples to give you a good feel for the songs. 2008年9月 Chord Song BooksThe chord song books for the first and new CD came back from the printer today. They turned out really nice. I'm really glad we were able to make these. They help make the songs more accessible to churches that want to learn to play them in worship. We've included the authorized Khmer translation, English lyrics and even have little pictures for each song showing how to make the chords in that song. Another purpose is to help standardize the translations as there is a large message on the cover stating that these translations are officially approved by Hillsong. Each book has a nice, glossy color cover a picture of the album cover. They are big with large text so they can easily be read while on a stand. They will likely retail for $1. 2008年9月 Worship CD LicenseToday I got back the signed license agreement from Hillsong for making the CD. That's a green light to go ahead. The master (mixing) is done and we'll be sending it off to Thailand soon. So if all goes well, in 2-3 weeks 2000 shiny, new CD's will come back ready for distribution. In the meantime, we need to finalize the case for the CD and have it printed. It will be printed in Phnom Penh and will hopefully be ready by the time the CD's arrive from Thailand. 2008年8月 CD Update: A Good Week So FarToday was a great day for mixing. We got 6 songs done. That leaves just one more to do on Friday, plus a little tweaking of some other songs. We decided to drop one song from the CD because we just couldn't get it right and didn't feel we could salvage it in the computer. It would be great to send the final CD off to Thailand next week for duplication and get the case printed, but I'm waiting to hear back from Hillsong about the license fees and info. It's been kind of slow going with them. I hope they don't hold up the project for a long time. 2008年8月 Worship CD UpdateWe are mixing the tracks now. Everything has been recorded. 2 songs are complete with 10 more to go. I expect another 2 weeks or so. We are also making a guitar chord book to go along with the CD. Before we can go ahead and make the CD's and book we need to acquire the license from Hillsong. The CD's will take a couple of weeks to make in Thailand and we need to print the CD case - the artwork is being designed now. So, things are coming along and it should be in stores by Oct-Nov. 2008年8月 Need Prayer for Worship CDA couple of days ago, I was given a CD of the rough draft of the new worship CD. This means that my music people think it's just about right and almost ready. As I've been listening in order to give some feedback, I'm hearing just how rough this draft is and needs a lot of work. Many songs need to be sung again and several music parts need to be redone as well. This was to be expected. What I didn't expect was that my musical arranger is moving in a week to take a gig at a hotel on the border of Vie'tnam, which means he may have some time on weekends to work on the CD. I'm not really sure what this means, but if I want to do this CD right it might take many more months to complete. Please pray. 2008年6月 Worship CD UpdateMuch progress has been made in recent weeks.
We are ahead of schedule. PTL! 2008年5月 Translations AwayI just emailed the final song translations to Hillsong Music in Australia. We spent the past 6 months checking and rechecking and are now confident they are quite accurate. There are 12 songs in all. Also, recording on the CD is moving along nicely. We may even be ahead of schedule. In June we will start to record the vocal tracks-which means the music tracks are all but complete. So it's wonderful timing that the translations are ready at the same time. God is good! 2007年10月 New Song TranslationsOne very crucial element to our Khmer worship CD project is the song translations. Pastor Barnabas is one of the few people in the country with the advanced language skills to really do it right. He's been very busy these past few months and has assured me that he'll finally be able to get to them by the end of November. Please pray for him. Another important benefit of these translations that I've come to see is that they are helpful in standardizing song translations in Cambodia. It's very common for a church to do their own translation. This results in people being exposed to multiple translations of the same songs, which isn't really a good thing. One of my long term goals is to help bring some consistency to the world of praise music in Cambodia through providing official translations. 2007年10月 New Khmer Worship CD
2007年5月 Worship CD #2We've begun work on our second worship CD. This time there will be only 12 songs, all by Hillsong Australia. Already, we've gotten the drum tracks done and are working on the translations. Please pray that Pastor Barnabas will have time to work on the translations. Then, I need to get them certified and approved by Hillsong. We'll start recording when I come back from Home Assignment in early 2008. It's important that I'm here to oversee the production. However, during my absence there are some things that can be done, namely the arrangements and tranlations. Plus, I need to raise funding for this new CD. I think that we can make it even better than the first one. 2007年2月 Worship CD BanquetA few days ago we finally got most of the people involved in making the worship CD together for a celebration banquet. A couple of people couldn't make it, but it was perhaps the first time that everyone was together in the same place. We had a very nice meal together. We ate primarily Thai food. Where else can 20 people stuff themselves for $100? A few of us huddled together and discussed the next project which is in the early stages of song translation. 2006年11月 CD In Stores NowIt's out! The CD came back from Thailand and it sounds great. Sonya helped me assemble the cases and shrink wrap 1000 CD's. Feedback so far has been very positive. It's been in stores for a few days now. I've sold about 150 in a few batches. Some CD's have already found their way to Malaysia, Australia, England and the USA. Please pray it will sell well and will be a great blessing to the church in Cambodia. 2006年10月 Disaster StrikesI was so excited to see how good the new CD's looked as I opened the box that had just arrived from Thailand. So it was a week late, it was finally here. PTL. I began to play the CD and then it happened. 5 seconds into the first song there was a very large pop/skip. Oh no! There were 5 more throughout the CD, 6 total. This was a disaster. Thousands of hours in the making and it can't be sold. I checked several disks from different stacks. They all had the same problem. What to do? What to do? My local contact who made the CD is equally distraught. He was more than a little involved in making the CD. He was the musical arranger, played the keyboards, directed all the singing, helped mix the music and even sang back-ups on most of the songs. He said this is the first time out of 50 CD's that this has ever happened. He's never had a big problem before. He was determined to send it back to the factory to make again. An hour later, in the middle of the night, the master CD and the bad reproduction were on their way back to Thailand. Now the less than perfect printing and empty cases wait idly for a CD. We sit and wait and hope that the factory will remake the CD and that we won't be stuck with damaged goods. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting to see the hand of the Lord. 2006年10月 Out For PrintingI sent the CD cover and flier out for printing today. Please pray. Having some printing experience, I can think of any number of things that can go wrong. It should be done around the middle of next week. The CD's should be back from Thailand around the same time. Also, I just found out that one of our singers is a DJ for the Far East Broadcasting Company. I gave him a CD copy and asked if he could play some of the songs. It would be great if he could play one everyday. The next item on the agenda is promotion and marketing. 2006年10月 CD SamplesThey're here. Download Instructions: Right-Click on the song title below and choose SAVE TARGET AS to download the sample. Some links only work if properly if you open them in a new window. It may take you to a new download page (upload2.net). You should see a .wma file extension. If you see a .htm extension, cancel it and try opening a new window. It shouldn't be difficult. For some unknown reason, they aren't all working the way that I had planned. As far as I know, you have to download the file. It won't play in your browser. The files are from 500k - 800k and should take just a minute or so to download. It's definitely worth it. 2006年10月 CD Gone GoldThe master CD is on its way to Thailand for replication. Happy Happy Joy Joy!! It should be back in a week or so. Now we are pressing on to finish the design for printing the CD cover, insert and poster this week. It will take another couple of weeks for the printing to be complete. Links for sample songs coming soon. 2006年9月 CD UpdatePraise God for his goodness. Work is progressing on our Khmer worship CD though we still feel that the enemy is working hard to keep us from finishing.
We were thinking to make the CD's in Thailand, but with the current situation we may change our minds and look to Singapore or Malaysia. Please pray for guidance and that this isn't a frustrating, difficult and long process. It should take less than 2 weeks. We expect to print the inserts in Cambodia. We may have to have a group "party" to assemble the 1000 CD's, cases, inserts and wrappers. You can hear some samples in another post from a few weeks ago. Just click the Worship CD category to find it easily. I'll post some new samples when I have them in a few more weeks. 2006年8月 New Sample Worship SongsCheck out our new samples.
